Connor is now one year old! I’m still marveling at how much he has grown over the last few weeks. The other morning we went on our walk and when I came back I started getting his breakfast ready and I gave him his sippy cup to drink and he just grabbed it and walked off with it, completely on is own and entertaining himself while I went about the kitchen. My little baby is turning into a toddler and I can’t handle it! On one hand, I’m very proud of the little independent being he is becoming but on the other hand I’m so sad that he doesn’t need me for everything anymore.
I knew this would happen with him turning one year old! We had a wonderful party for Connor’s birthday. It was relatively low-key, we just had friends and family over to the house. The decor was a little pumpkin patch in the backyard with a few hay stacks and lots of pumpkins. Richard cooked hamburgers, pork sandwiches and sides. He also baked the cake which was his personal favorite, a Victorian sponge cake. It was our first time offering him cake and he loved it of course! The child loves any kind of carbs.
We had friends even drive up from Dallas to come celebrate with us. It was a wonderful day and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to support him on his first birthday.
Everyone spoiled Connor so much with gifts! He got so many new books. His favorites are the “Big Truck” books. He’s very into wheels and trucks right now. It’s so funny to see him holding the large books – he actually manipulates them pretty well. Richard’s aunt gave Connor some music toys. He absolutely loves music and dancing! His other favorite toys were the push car and fire truck from Bon Bon and Nouna. My mom gave Connor lots of books (of course) and a growth chart, so we can capture his growth year by year!
I’m looking forward to what the next year will bring with all of its smiles, cuddles and more.
